The Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which was launched globally last October 2014, is currently holding the top spot of this year's most popular smartphone devices in the U.S.

A survey that was carried out by the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) has revealed that Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 had earned 86 out of 100 points and is currently dominating the race.

Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, on the other hand, finished in second place, earning 82 out of 100 points, along with Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5.

The main attraction of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, according to the ACSI, is its 5.7 inch Super AMOLED wide display screen which offers users crystal clear images and superior display performance.

Director Van Amburg of the ACSI said, "Samsung gained an initial advantage as the first manufacturer to introduce large screens for smartphones, but with the launch of large-screen phones by Apple, its loyal customers have little reason to look elsewhere."

The Galaxy Note 4 smartphone also offers users a 16 mega pixel rear camera (5312 x 2988 pixels) that comes with optical image stabilization and autofocus features.

Motorola Mobility's Moto X smartphone, which was released around the same time as the Note 4, had secured the third position in the customer satisfaction survey, earning 81 out of 100 points.

LG's G3 smartphone device scored 80 points along with Apple's iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy S4. Other devices such as the HTC One also made it to the list.

A new model of the Note series, codenamed Project Noble, is expected to be released sometime this year, possibly at the IFA 2015 event held in Berlin, Germany.
