It is highly speculated that a less powerful version of the Galaxy Note 6 is in the works, and Samsung sees to it that it is almost as powerful as their Galaxy S7 phone.

GSM Arena reported that the rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 6 Lite will be containing a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with an Adreno 530 GPU, and paired with 4GB of RAM. This is indeed a very powerful lite variant.

The Snapdragon 820 chip is the latest and most powerful processor currently available to smartphone manufacturers.

The report also mentioned that there is no screen size difference between the standard and lite Galaxy Note 6. Both will have a 5.8-inch display screen, but the less powerful variant will have a Full HD, 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. The standard model is rumored to have a QHD resolution with 2560 x 1440 pixels.

It was previously reported that the South Korean tech giant is testing out two types of screen, a curved and a flat one. It is still unsure if this is in connection to the Note 6 Standard and Lite, or neither.

Just for comparison, the still-unannounced Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is said to be containing an unannounced chip by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 823, either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and a Quad HD screen with resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

Sam Mobile has confirmed that the upcoming standard version will be water and dust resistant or IP68 certified, just like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge released last March. Furthermore, they have reason to believe that a USB Type-C port may be included as well.

Samsung has not released any official statement concerning the Galaxy Note 6 or Galaxy Note 6 Lite. However, Galaxy Note 5 was released around August of last year, and this may happen again this year. Both phones are expected to be unveiled at the same time.
