Samsung Galaxy Note 6 rumors: Next flagship said to have Android N and bigger screen, to debut earlier than expected

After the Galaxy S7 hype, now comes the Galaxy Note 6 and it is expected to be unveiled early compared to last year.

It is becoming a trend for Samsung not to follow a pattern in their releases. Nobody really knows why the tech giant is planning -- if they are indeed planning -- such a release date since there is no big event happening in July.

The latest information came through a Korean website thebell, where it stated that the South Korean tech giant is gunning for a summer reveal and a mid-July release for the Galaxy Note 6. The Note 5 was unveiled in August last year, the Note 4 in October 2014, and the Note 3 in September 2013.

The report also stated that internally, the Galaxy Note 6 is known as "Grace" and is said to be containing the latest operating system from Google, the Android N, upon its release. The Android N's working schedule was announced a few weeks ago by Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of Android at Google.

He said, "We'll be able to act on that feedback while still being able to hand off the final N release to device makers this summer, so they can get their hands on the latest version of Android earlier than ever."

So, the upcoming phablet may or may not come with the still-unreleased version of Android.

Hardware-wise, the Galaxy Note 6 is said to be larger than its previous model. Since the Galaxy 7 Edge is close to the previous Note's screen size, the upcoming device will reportedly move further up. It is speculated to have either a 5.8-inch or 6-inch screen, with Quad-HD resolution. It is also rumored to include a 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.

It is also believed that the upcoming phablet will be IP68 certified -- dust and water resistant -- just like the Galaxy S7. GottaBeMobile added that the Note 6 stylus will incorporate a fold-out design with a locking mechanism and will also act as a kickstand. So the S-Pen will be on the outside and not on the inside. This design makes sense for the IP68 certification.

Other rumors include a 4K resolution on a flexible display, 16-core processor, either Exynos or Snapdragon, microSD slot, 20MP main camera and non-removable 4,000-mAh battery.

Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 and Note 6 Edge are expected to be within the price range of US$750 and US$850.

Samsung has not uttered a word concerning these rumors.
