Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs: New flagship to roll out soon after reveal?

It is just hours before Samsung officially unveils its new flagship, the Galaxy Note 7. Previously, flagships release at least a month after their reveal. Speculations suggest that Samsung is deviating from this, and that the new Galaxy Note 7 may be expected to hit the market as early as this month.

According to ET News, the Galaxy Note 7 may be released just hours away from the time of its debut, particularly in Samsung's home country, South Korea. Reportedly, most of South Korea-based tech manufacturers like Samsung and LG will be adjusting their smartphone release dates by at least a month earlier, since this timing is to take advantage of a late-2016 release for the iPhone 7. T

he industry follower quotes Professor Chang Seok-kwon of Hanyang University, who stated, "It has become important for smartphone manufacturers to put out more new models as markets for smartphones are now based on competition for speed." Having earlier release dates are also an advantage for tech manufacturers that control their own assembly line. Professor Chang Seok-kwon added, "Unlike Apple that receives parts from outside companies, Samsung and LG have advantages in adjusting their release dates since their affiliates take care of manufacturing processes."

Meanwhile, GSM Arena also agrees with the estimate, since new reports mention that after the unveiling on August 2, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 may become available as early as August 16 in Europe. This clearly deviates from previous flagship announcements from Samsung, where staggered releases into different regions start at least a month or two after its debut. While there is no confirmed date for North America, it is expected that the roll out schedule is closer to its reveal date, considering that the "Galaxy Unpacked" event for the Galaxy Note 7 is to be held in New York on August 2 at 11 a.m. PDT.
