It has been rumored that one of the improvements on the next Samsung flagship is a massive battery. However, speculations suggest that this may have all been hearsay, since the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 is said to feature a regular 3,600 mAh battery.

According to SamMobile, a Russian blogger has said that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will offer a 3,600-mAh battery, also found on the current-gen Galaxy S7 series, instead of the rumored 4,000-mAh one. Although the upcoming flagship will have power-draining features and upgrades, Samsung has focused on device optimization and better battery management to prolong usage instead.

Aside from the battery, speculations also suggest that the new Galaxy Note will feature the same camera setup as the Galaxy S7 series, as well as its IP68 water resistance rating.

The blog post also mentioned other specs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, including a QHD display, Exynos 8893 and Snapdragon 821 processor versions, and 6GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, with the device said to have an early August launch, an exclusive from Android Authority mentions one improvement of the next Samsung Galaxy Note. According to the industry follower, a leaked image showing the front panel of the Galaxy Note 7 confirms some cut-outs on the upper side that are absent from previous flagship iterations. This may mean that the rumored iris scanner of the new flagship is true, after all. The new placements would confirm a previous Samsung patent application, where an iris scanner is suggested to use up to three lenses to accurately read iris biometrics.

Aside from the iris scanner, the front panel also confirms that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will have a dual edge panel, with the display measuring 5.8 inches. However, it is unclear if this will be for only one variant of the new Galaxy Note, as it is previously rumored that the flagship will come out in edge and dual edge versions.
