Although Apple has yet to come out with its next-gen smartphone flagship, the current-gen iPhone 6 lineup still comes out on top even against recent releases like Samsung's Galaxy Note 7.

According to BGR, the iPhone 6 lineup – particularly the iPhone 6s releases – still win in terms of speed when compared against the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Reportedly, in simple tests like opening apps in succession, the current iPhone flagship proves to be much quicker in processing details.

Meanwhile, given that both are flagship lineups of what can be considered the top two smartphone makers in the world, an in-depth test between the two has also been done. According to XDA Developers, although the Samsung has opted for top-tier features and next-gen specs in the new Galaxy Note 7, Apple's current iteration is still the most stable one. In addition, although the Galaxy Note 7 is the most recent release in comparison with other flagships, there is just a narrow margin between performance levels against other early 2016 flagship releases like the HTC 10 and the OnePlus 3, which more or less offers similar specs.

However, it should be noted that Samsung may still opt to come out with a much powerful Galaxy Note 7. Speculations suggest that the South Korea-based tech giant is just waiting for Apple's iPhone 7 announcement next month, and will counter it with a 6-GB RAM edition for their flagship. It remains to be seen how the Galaxy Note 7 will perform, as aside from its RAM capacity, all specs like an Exynos 8890 chipset, Mali T880 GPU, and other features will remain the same.

As for Apple, even if the iPhone 6 lineup still performs well against recent flagship releases, the Cupertino-based tech maker still plans to come out with its follow-up, the iPhone 7, this year. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 7 is pegged to come out next month, and may debut as early as Sept. 9, and will reportedly release on September 23.
