Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, and S5 smartphones were spotted in Amazon this week at discounted prices as the new Galaxy Note 4 became available for pre-order.

The giant retailer offers the Samsung Galaxy S3 for an incredibly low price of $266.95. Meanwhile, its little brother and low grade Galaxy S3 Mini now costs $169.79. However, these two devices were released two years ago. The specs and features of these two handsets are considered as outdated. In those two years that have passed, new technologies have already emerged and adapted by mobile phones.

Meanwhile, the 2013 flagship smartphone of the company, Galaxy S4, is now available for $333.99 for the 16 GB white variant and $333.35 for the 16 GB black model. The Galaxy S4 was released last year and comes with Samsung Exynos eight-core processor. However, the Galaxy S4 Mini with dual SIM feature now costs $264.87.

On the other hand, the 16 GB international variant of Samsung Galaxy S5, which was released early this year, now costs $508.99. The black version of Galaxy S5 Mini can be purchased for $377.57.

It is most likely that the discounted prices of the Samsung devices are meant to attract more consumers to purchase them.  Samsung has great competition in the market with a myriad of Android-based smartphones along with the recently released Nexus 6 handset that is grabbing the attention of the tech industry and buyers. There is a dire need to appeal greatly to consumers.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was already available for pre-order since Friday through AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint for $299 upfront price with two-year contract. The device is also available in Samsung's website and various retailers. Its brother, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, is reported to be released in the U.S. via AT&T and U.S. Cellular. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is claimed to be a limited edition handset and will be available in selected regions or in limited quantities.
