Two "Prime" smartphones are rumored to arrive in the market this year.

Samsung has come up with a Samsung Galaxy S5 variant dubbed as Galaxy S5 Prime. At first, it was thought that the handset was a premier smartphone compared to the flagship. However, based on the rumored specs and features, it will be similar to the Active version of previous Galaxy S devices.

The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC was also rumored to release the HTC One M8 Prime this year. The two smartphones will engage in an intense battle soon as rumors stated that the two handsets will be launched next month. Below is the comparison of the specs and features of the two "Prime" smartphones.

Screen Display

Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime was rumored to pack a 5.2 inch screen display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. HTC One M8 Prime, on the other hand, was reported to pack a slightly bigger panel of 5.5 inches with 2K screen resolution.

Processor

The Samsung Galaxy S5 variant will also pack a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. There are reports that Samsung's new handset will be powered by 810 chipset. The Galaxy S5 Prime will also pack an Adreno 420 graphics chip as well as a 3GB of RAM. HTC One M8 Prime was also rumored to be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 or 810 CPU and 3GB of RAM.

Internal Storage

The handset will be available in 16GB and 32GB with external storage via microSD slot. HTC One M8 Prime will also be available in 16GB and 32GB variants and will also have additional storage of up to 128GB via microSD slot.

Operating System

Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will run with the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS. There were rumors that HTC One M8 Prime will come with Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS although there were whispers that the handset will come with the latest 4.4.2 version.

Camera

Samsung's smartphone was rumored to pack a 16MP camera at the back and 2MP front facing camera. It was reported that the HTC's smartphone will come sport a 4MP or 8MP rear camera, but other reports claimed that the smartphone will sport an 18MP shooter.
