Galaxy Note 5 release date: Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Note 5 leaked

Samsung Unpacked eventSamsung

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5 are expected to be launched during the company's Unpacked event on Aug. 13. But a couple of weeks before the affair, the official press renders for the phablets were leaked, thanks to Evan Blass of @evleaks.

The photo reveals that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus sticks true to its name while the Note 5 makes users feel like it is part of the S6 gang with its metal and glass design language. The devices pretty much look the way rumors and leaks depicted them, Android Central noted.

According to Phone Arena, the S6 Edge variant will be released globally while the new Note will only be available in select markets. The former is expected to come with a 5.7-inch display. It will also get the same 16-megapixel rear-facing camera as the one on the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Meanwhile, Evan Blass stated that the Galaxy Note 5 will get a 5.66-inch screen that renders a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It is also said to have an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor and 4 GB of RAM to keep things smooth. The new Note iteration will also offer 32 GB of space.

In the imaging department, the Galaxy Note 5 will sport a 16-megapixel shooter on the back and a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front. Unfortunately, to achieve the Galaxy Note 5's tasteful look, the staple removable rear and microSD slot had to be forgone.

The key difference between the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and the Galaxy Note 5 is that the latter has an S Pen while the former dons a curved screen, although Phone Arena has word that another feature that sets them apart is the Note device getting a more powerful Exynos 7422 processor.

It remains to be seen what Samsung has really packaged for the phablet duo but it will all be revealed in less than two weeks' time.
