The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have finally been unveiled and the device is touted to be a promising new gadget that can improve on the performance of one of its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Officially unveiled last March 1, the Samsung Galaxy S6 officially bid goodbye to the usual plastic back and will now be encased in a metal build. That and of course a new design and new hardware have brought high expectations to Samsung which general manager for Samsung mobile communication business Andy Tu believes will make a new mark for the company.

Tu is apparently referring to the Samsung Galaxy S4 (not the Samsung Galaxy S5). The Samsung Galaxy S5 did debut last year but sadly failed to impress consumers. But that setback seems to have been the benchmark of the Samsung Galaxy S6 which as of its unveiling has gotten the consumer market up and excited.

Samsung is expected to focus on the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 4 together with mid range phones in the A- and E-series models. And it all starts in April 10 when the Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to hit the market.

During the Samsung "Unpacked" event, folks got their first official look at the S6. For those who are still unaware, the S6 features a 16MP camera at the back and 5MP front-facing camera.

Among the new features of the S6 include being able to recharge using wireless technology. Apparently this was all made possible through the aid of WPC and PMA certified wireless charging technology.

Inside, the S6 will make use of world's first 14nm mobile processor with 64-bit platform, a new LPDDR4 memory system and UFS 2.0 flash memory for enhanced memory speed with lower power consumption.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will start rolling out globally this April 10, 2015. It will be available in 32/64/128GB storage capacity. Among the colors it will be available in include White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (Galaxy S6 only) and Green Emerald (Galaxy S6 edge only).
