Samsung Galaxy S6 ready for release by March 2015 with major overhaul?

What will Samsung do now after its flagship turned out to be a major downer?T-Mobile

The poorly-received Samsung Galaxy S5 has put its maker on a precarious position in the smartphone arena. Samsung is now in the middle of a huge sales nose-dive and everyone (including Samsung itself) puts the pressure on the upcoming Galaxy S6 to make a complete turnaround. Fortunately, the handset is expected to be more than capable of doing the job.

First off, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has to undergo a major overhaul in design. Its predecessors lack one key feature, which is a refined outer shell. Many hope that the South Korean company will finally abandon the use of plastic for exteriors and start to go for a streamlined design instead, which is a thousand-fold better. Samsung seems to be starting on that though. This became evident with its latest Galaxy Alpha releases, which are caked with sleek metal. This has led tech outlets to believe that the S6 will get a taste of the same metal body as well. If not, PC Advisor mentioned the probable use of grapheme material in the S6's body.

To give the handset much more capability in subsisting with the same field as the LG G3 and iPhone 6 Plus, PC Advisor says that Samsung will go for a full-size 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen for its latest offering. It added that it will be made more unique with a curved screen, too. As per I Know Today, the screen the Samsung Galaxy S6 will have will either be Quad HD that renders a 1440 x 2560 display resolution or a 4K display, which is even more ambitious than 2160 x 3840. The site says that Samsung has been hinting on the latter's possibility, but PC Advisor says that the former is more likely. This dilemma can come down to the processor that will power up the device. It is reported that Samsung is looking at the Snapdragon 808 and Snapdragon 810. The former can prop up a good 1600 x 2560 display. The latter is much more ideal for a 4K display.

The device may also support 3 GB of RAM. IB Times says it can go up to 4 GB. Sam Mobile has previously reported that the S6 will get a 64-bit chip called Exynos 7420, which will hold four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores. It is also said that a 4000 mAh battery will be loaded in the S6. Memory-wise, there will be three variants: 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. Details on its camera remain shrouded in mystery. Nevertheless, chances are, the S6 will go for either a 16-megapixel shooter or a 20-megapixel snapper.

Last is the operating system. Even though Tizen has made its way to some of Samsung's devices, tech outlets tout that the S6 will not get it yet and that Samsung will stick with Android 5.0 Lollipop for its upcoming device. As for the release date, it is to be expected that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be introduced during the Mobile World Congress 2015, that is, around the month of March.
