Although Samsung brought back the IP6X rating on the Galaxy S7 lineup, making the flagship dust- and water-proof, it is inevitable that some fans will want to see an Active version of the latest iteration. Recent leaks have reportedly confirmed the release, with the rollout of the Galaxy S7 Active said to start on June 10.

According to Android Authority, recent leaks on the upcoming Galaxy S7 Active seem to indicate that its release is coming soon. While AT&T has yet to come out with details on the device, supposed press renders and live images of the iteration reportedly indicate a mid-2016 launch.

Meanwhile, should the leaked images be true, some observers are not very keen on the color options supposedly available for the Galaxy S7 Active. The Verge notes that the latest leak, with the Galaxy S7 Active supposedly dressed in a "desert camo" option, as appealing as a PR image. However, the color scheme itself is "...truly awful in ways that just can't be accidental." The industry follower added that the new color scheme may be targeted at a niche, such as defense and military contractors or people who works in the desert.

Although Samsung and AT&T have yet to come out with the specs sheet of the device, it can be expected that the Galaxy S7 Active will remain a top-tier, flagship phone. Speculations suggest that AT&T opted for the Snapdragon 820 processor version of the device, instead of Samsung's homegrown Exynos 8890 chipset. Meanwhile, the Qualcomm SoC will be paired with 4 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, as with previous Active versions, the new Galaxy S7 Active will feature large, waterproof physical home buttons instead of the capacitive keys on the base model. It is also said that the new iteration will have an IP68 rating.

As for its price, it may be within the price range of the base model of the Galaxy S7.
