Samsung Galaxy S7 leak could see another feature pitted against the iPhone 6s

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 soon and right now, rumors are rife that it will pretty much carry some features pegged to give the iPhone 6s a run for its money.

Everyone has probably heard of the rumors involving a pressure-sensitive display that the device will be carrying, Samsung's own offering to compete with the iPhone 6s' patented 3D Touch Display.

This means that the upcoming Samsung flagship is likely to offer features like the Quick Actions and Peak and Pop. But a recent piece from Android Geeks indicates that there could be more to come.

This has something to do with another feature which could tangle with the iPhone 6s Live Photos feature.

For those who are unaware, Live Photos offers 15 seconds of video before and after an actual image is taken. It can be eventually used as a Lock Screen wallpaper and viewed on other Apple devices too.

On Samsung's part, a similar feature could be coming. The only downside is that the yet-to-be-named feature will come with no audio. This could hint that the captured photo/video may very well end up as an animated GIF which can be shared on Facebook or even Twitter.

Samsung will, of course, name that feature differently and right now, two possible titles are mentioned. The said feature could be named Timeless Photos or Vivid Photos, but nothing is clear as of the moment.

With the Samsung Galaxy S7 expected to be out as early as next month at its annual "Unpacked" event, the new feature may not be ready since it is still under development. The best chances of seeing it may be through a software update which Samsung could push later on.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will likely be out by Feb. 21 before the 2016 Mobile World Congress.

Among the features that it is anticipated to carry include a new and upgraded processor, the return of the microSD card slot, a Type-C USB port, 4 GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a new waterproof design.
