One of the much-anticipated flagships that fans and tech observers have been waiting for is the next iteration of Samsung's Galaxy series. Although no specific release date has yet been set for the Galaxy S7, rumors and speculations have been making their way online.

The latest rounds off the rumor mill place the upcoming Galaxy S7 to have cutting-edge tech. According to WCCFTech, Samsung will use its homegrown Exynos processor under the hood. A step above the current 7420 of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the upcoming Exynos 8890 allegedly scored higher results in benchmark tests when compared to other chipsets such as the upcoming Snapdragon 820 by Qualcomm. Meanwhile, rumors also suggest that in select markets, Samsung is also planning a Snapdragon and Exynos processor hybrid.

Another hardware under the hood that is supposed to take a leap with an upgrade are the device's cameras. Aside from a camera resolution increase to 20 MP, the Galaxy S7 will also feature Samsung's own ISOCELL technology. This feature is supposed to deliver crisp and quality images and will contend with other flagships such as Microsoft's new Lumia phones and their PureView camera technology.

In terms of features, The Inquisitr reported that since some of the newer additions to the smartphone market have adopted it, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 will also release with a USB Type-C port. Samsung insider SamMobile said this is already a done deal, according to their industry sources. Having USB Type-C connectivity means that the new Galaxy S7 can charge faster, have more universal connectivity options, and higher data speed transfers than USB 3.0. Meanwhile, having the Type-C connectivity will also translate into a slimmer design for the body and chassis, since the new USB port is slimmer and thinner than the standard one.

However, all the supposed features and updates for the S7 remain hearsay. Samsung still has to comment on details about their upcoming flagship.
