With Apple upping the ante in the smartphone flagship wars, will South Korea-based Samsung be including new features to its upcoming lineup? Rumors say that the upcoming Galaxy S7 will have 3D Touch-like feature for its interface.

According to industry insider GSM Arena, it is rumored that the South Korean company entered into an agreement with Synaptics, and will allegedly utilize the new ClearForce technology. This option will allow upcoming non-Apple flagships to have the 3D Touch interface as part of their features.

3D Touch technology has been one of the main features of recent Apple launches. Introduced as Force Touch tech on the Apple Watch and on premium versions of MacBooks, the new 3D Touch tech is one of the new features of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which were launched recently.

With this feature on, the touchscreen display will become pressure-sensitive, with the software allowing the platform to distinguish between a hard press and a soft finger touch. This opens up new capabilities for the device, particularly in interface. With 3D Touch, navigation can become easier and much more convenient. iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users can navigate and scroll through apps without the need to go into different submenus or numerous tabs.

Meanwhile, aside from the 3D Touch display speculation, it is also rumored that there will also be an Edge variant for the Galaxy S7. The same as previous iterations of the device, Tech Times reports that contrary to this year's multiple releases of Edge variants, Samsung will only reveal one Edge version for next year. The Edge variant will reportedly be for the Samsung Galaxy S7 model.

Although Samsung has yet to confirm these rumors, fans may expect some details for the upcoming flagship to come out by early 2016.
