Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors: Galaxy S7 to sport 5.2-inch display, Galaxy S7 Edge 5.5-inch

Will the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S7 bring back the microSD card slot?Samsung

The rumors pertaining to the Samsung Galaxy S7 line continue to ramp up since it is believed that the device is likely to make its way out in the open by February 2016.

The latest has something to do with the display screen sizes that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will come in. Word of such comes from the Economic Times of Korea, which reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be toting a 5.2-inch display while the Galaxy S7 Edge will have a larger 5.5-inch one including curved sides.

Seeing how Samsung had its share of supply issues when the Samsung Galaxy S6 line came out, CNet bares that the Korean company is prepared this time.

That is if about five million in stocks would be sufficient to appease the demand. Per that report, the denomination includes 3.3 million Galaxy S7 units and 1.7 million for the Galaxy S7 Edge.

It remains to be seen if that stock is enough, although it may depend on other factors as well. With word of a higher-priced Samsung Galaxy S7 in the air mainly due to the rumored addition of an iris scanner, such could stop buyers on their tracks.

Aside from the display and the alleged iris scanner, other rumored specs of the Galaxy S7 include a USB Type-C port, which could be in line with the phone's quick charge technology, and a pressure sensitive display that is likely Samsung's bet to compete with Apple's 3D Touch display.

Then there is that earlier rumor (via GSM Arena) of the Galaxy S7 coming in different processors. Although it remains to be confirmed, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge could come out with either an Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, meaning there could be four variants coming out.

The Galaxy S7 line could come out as early as Samsung's Unpacked event, which is usually held before the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC). The 2016 MWC will take place on Feb. 22, 2016.
