Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors: New flagship device could bring back the microSD card slot

Those who may have found the lack of microSD card slots on this year's batch of flagship offerings from Samsung will be glad to know that there are rumors now suggesting that the company will bring those back for next year's line.

Samsung famously ditched those microSD slots in this year's set of flagships and the company took a lot of heat for that decision. Samsung users had gotten used to their smartphones featuring expandable internal storage capacities, and the lack of one with the latest batch proved unsatisfactory to them.

It's worth noting that this year's set of Samsung flagships all featured 32 GB of internal storage without the microSD slot, according to NDTV. It's unclear if Samsung will choose to increase that storage space for the Galaxy S7 now that it is also rumored to feature the microSD card slot once again.

As for other rumored specs of the Galaxy S7, the new Samsung smartphone will also reportedly feature varying processors, depending on its location. Some regions will allegedly receive Galaxy S7 units featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, while others will get the company's own line of Exynos chipsets.

Another rumored change for the Galaxy S7 involves when the device might actually be released.

According to Know Your Mobile, there's a chance that next year's flagship units may debut earlier than previous models have, at least in relation to what has been Samsung's established timeline.

In the past, Samsung typically launched their new flagship units sometime around March or April, with the initial announcement of their plans taking place in February.

For the Galaxy S7, people can reportedly expect something different, with the company rumored to release the phone even as early as January.

If Samsung does not release the Galaxy S7 by January, another possible date for its debut could be Feb. 27.
