Samsung Galaxy S7 release date, specs rumors: MicroSD slot to return?

Will the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S7 bring back the microSD card slot?Samsung

After successfully launching two new flagship smartphones in the market, Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch another high-end devic, the Galaxy S7.

The upcoming device is the follow-up to the Samsung Galaxy S6, which features several groundbreaking specs from the South Korean electronics and telecommunications company. The Galaxy S6 seemed to take on the design of the iPhone by omitting the usual removable battery and built-in microSD card. But the latest rumors claim that the Galaxy S7 will bring back the memory expansion capacity on the upcoming smartphone.

The speculation was first spotted by Gizmodo from one of the web entries posted in Italian website HDBlog, which revealed that the South Korean tech and consumer brand will bring back the expandable microSD slot with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 next year.

The report said that bringing back the memory card expansion slot will be very useful with the Android Marshmallow operating system since the new OS can now support the flex storage feature where users can start using the external memory storage as the device's internal memory.

Other rumors about the next-generation Samsung Galaxy S device also mentioned that the upcoming phone will come out with a 5.2-inch flat display, while its other variant could come with a larger, 5.7-inch display screen.

There are also rumors claiming that the soon-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy S7 could also adopt the USB Type-C technology. However, these details are still unverified by the manufacturer.

Other notable speculations about the upcoming device include an improved camera and internal processor.

Samsung fans can expect to learn more about the said Galaxy S7 during early next year's Mobile World Congress.
