Tech fans are already considering checking out their preferred upcoming smartphones. Although there are no confirmed sightings yet, two of the most anticipated releases are expected to come from Samsung, with its next Galaxy S iteration, and a new premium flagship from HTC.

Based on the speculations off the rumor mill, how will the Galaxy S7 compare with the next HTC smartphone, dubbed as the M10?

Design and build

Since both are expected to don premium specs, fans are also expecting both flagships to have premium looks and feel. Based on the recent One A9 release, it can be inferred that the next M10 flagship may also sport the same all-metal chassis. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S7 is expected to come in at least the same metal-glass body as its predecessor.

There are reports, however, that said the S7 could come in a magnesium alloy build. In addition, it is also rumored that the next Samsung flagship will already have an Edge base model included in the release.

Hardware and features

According to fansite HTCM10One, the new flagship from HTC will apparently carry the newest Snapdragon 820 processor. This is leagues away from the current-gen SD810 chipset found in recent flagships. The 810 SoC was reported to be having some internal and overheating issues. The new HTC unit will also reportedly come with at least 4 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Galaxy S7 is rumored to come in three variants, processor-wise. According to the speculations, there will be two Exynos versions using a mid-spec and premium-grade homegrown processors from Samsung. In addition, United States fans may expect a third configuration using a Snapdragon 820 chipset.

As for features, it can be expected both flagships to flaunt cutting-edge features like fingerprint scanners, more robust security options, and in the case of the Galaxy S7, a HiFi audio feature.
