The smartphone flagship wars have entered a new arena – that of dual displays. According to speculations, to keep up with the LG G5, Samsung is said to also feature its own take on an always-on feature for the Galaxy S7's screen.

While it is still unclear how Samsung will go about it on their upcoming flagship, Geek mentioned that the feature is seemingly a confirmed one for the Galaxy S7.

Samsung is said to have already applied for a broad trademark on the "always on display" tag. Meanwhile, since there are no details yet on the Galaxy S7's always-on display, all eyes are checking out the LG G5's claim of this feature. The South Korea-based tech giant already hinted of an always-on display in a previous marketing teaser.

The industry follower added that to integrate this feature, it is rumored that both Samsung and LG have considered AMOLED displays for their upcoming flagships. It is also surmised that in order to keep up with the screen's always-on feature, the rumors of the two iterations coming out with improved battery performance and add-ons are most likely true.

For the Galaxy S7, it is said that Samsung is featuring a 3600mAh battery, significantly higher than the previous Galaxy S6. LG, on the other hand, is speculated to release the G5 with removable bottom panels, which may also spell a replaceable and upgradable battery.

Aside from the displays, the two upcoming flagships will also duke it out in terms of specs as well as in chosen launch dates. It is confirmed that both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5 are primed to share the stage on Feb. 21, right before the start of the Mobile World Congress.

In terms of internals, the two flagships also come across as premium iterations. The LG G5 is said to come out with a new design and top-tier specs like a Snapdragon 820 core with at least 3GB of RAM. The Galaxy S7, meanwhile, is said to come out in two processor variants – a Snapdragon 820 chipset and Samsung's homegrown Exynos 8890 processor.
