Samsung Galaxy S8 release date news: specs tipped to include new camera, next-gen design

While Samsung is still enjoying its success with the current-gen Galaxy S7 flagship, some fans are already wondering how the South Korea-based tech giant will outdo itself with the Galaxy S8.

Speculations suggest that should the next flagship project, the Galaxy Note 6, actually come with its rumored specs and design, then fans can also expect the Galaxy S8 to have similar features.

For one, the upcoming new Samsung flagships may have a new camera setup. In a previous report by SamMobile, it is hinted that the South Korea-based conglomerate is in the process of developing a new camera assembly, apparently to feature in its future flagships. The new camera reportedly features a wider aperture to improve on the current flagship's low-light image capture options. In addition, the new setups will also jump in its clarity, as they will reportedly have 18-24 megapixels, as opposed to the current MP count for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy Note 5.

Having a new camera setup is certainly plausible, given that other competitors are building up their image capture features on their flagships. At least two current flagships, the HTC 10 and the Huawei P9, boast of having "world-class cameras."

Meanwhile, it is confirmed that the Galaxy Note 6 will have USB Type-C ports. This means that the next flagship, the Galaxy S8, may also switch over to the reversible-connector port, and may improve its build towards a sleeker and slimmer profile.

A number of wish lists and concept designs for the upcoming Galaxy S8 have already circulated online. While it is too early to tell how Samsung plans to make the new flagship different from its previous iterations, the next Galaxy S series lineup addition will certainly have a new feature or two as its main points, as Samsung is known as one of the trend-setters in the smartphone industry.
