Samsung has already released a new 8-GB RAM package, said to be used as components for mobile devices. Does this hint that its next flagship will use the feature?Samsung Newsroom

Samsung is expected to launch its next flagship next year. However, speculations already suggest the supposed specs and features of the upcoming iteration. According to rumors, the Galaxy S8 will launch as a full lineup, with a top-tier version that may feature massive 8 GB of RAM.

TechRadar notes that the South Korea-based tech giant has already released a new lineup of dynamic random access memory chipsets, one of which is an 8-GB LPDDR4 DRAM. This type of package can be utilized in mobile devices. Samsung reportedly places its new chipset memory packages as top-tier components, able to process task-intensive features such as 4K UHD content, dual camera image capture, and virtual reality.

Interestingly, all the features for the new 8-GB RAM chipset are supposed to be integrated into the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship.

However, it should be noted that Samsung has yet to provide details on its next flagship, and it is expected that the confirmed specs and features list of the Galaxy S8 will become known just days or weeks prior to the launch. If Samsung does use its new RAM chipset, it will be likely on a top-tier Galaxy S8 variant. A premium copy fits together with what some observers are saying, noting that with the top-tier variant having 8 GB of RAM, its base version will most likely carry a 6-GB one.

Although Samsung has yet to confirm if the Galaxy S8 will have two RAM variants, it is interesting to note that the company has already come out with a 6-GB RAM smartphone in the recently-released Galaxy C9 Pro.

Meanwhile, it is expected that the next Samsung flagship will carry top-tier specs, even if it will have a base version. Supposed specs and features for the Galaxy S8 include a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution, a Snapdragon 830 or Exynos 8895 processor (depending on the market), and Samsung's first dual-cam flagship setup.
