Samsung is planning on making some massive changes to its flagship Galaxy S smartphone series with the upcoming release of the Galaxy S9 next year. According to a leak, the changes will cover many of the features at the back of the handset.

The leak comes from Chinese leaker Ice universe, who has a good track record when it comes to the design of Samsung phones. In a series of tweets, Ice universe revealed that the "back of the Galaxy S9 will change a lot."

While the leaker did not expound on the information, many are speculating that the upcoming Galaxy S9 will finally be getting a dual camera system on the rear of the phone. The feature was not included in the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus phones, but was added to the Galaxy Note 8 premium smartphone released more recently.

Sources are also claiming that Samsung is working on a rear camera with slow motion video capture capability of 1,000 frames per second, a feature that would surpass any other smartphone cameras in existence.

Ice universe also revealed that the S9 is sure to miss out on the rumored fingerprint sensor that is integrated into the display. The feature was also speculated to be included in the Note 8, but that too did not pan out. With the emergence of facial recognition as a viable security feature, Samsung's innovation plans for the fingerprint scanner may be affected.

Lastly, the leaker revealed that Galaxy S9 will keep its 3.5 mm audio jack. This would see Samsung going against the trend, as more and more flagship smartphones are following Apple's once derided decision to ditch the audio jack.

The launch of the Galaxy S9 has not yet been given a date, but it is expected to be unveiled end of February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
