Samsung is gearing up for a big 2018 unveiling, as the newest 3D image renders for the Samsung Galaxy S9 reveals the phone's improved design over its predecessors.

One of the most exciting and surprising design improvements which the Samsung Galaxy S9 will employ is the dual-lens rear camera, putting the photo and video performance of the smartphone closer to that of digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras. While this sort of design has already been included in the Galaxy Note 8, the one on Galaxy S9 will be vertical, with one on top of the other, similar to the dual lens cameras of the iPhone X.

Underneath the dual lens camera, Samsung has also apparently repositioned the fingerprint scanner. This time, it is located in the middle of the back of the phone. This may be a wise decision since the off-center scanners on Galaxy S8 and Note 8 were not well-received.

These design improvements have also been confirmed via 3D renditions of the Galaxy S9 made by the smartphone accessory maker called Ghostek. The 3D render of the phone was based on information from the factory tasked with building Samsung's new flagship phones.

According to BGR, multiple sources and insiders have also confirmed the renders to be accurate, except for a slightly wider front bezel and a different speaker. Otherwise, the 3D renders are spot-on, with the described changes in the back of the phone similar to ones being built by Ghostek.

One important thing to note is that the 3D renders actually have a 3.5 millimeter (mm) headphone jack, which could mean that Samsung has not scrapped the design yet and might still keep it around for at least a year more. The physical Bixby button is also present in the render, meaning it could also be included in the actual model. For the record, this is also the first time in a Galaxy S series line-up that the dual-camera feature is utilized.

Despite being billed as an accurate representation of the final release model, customers are advised to take the 3D render rumors with a grain of salt, as Samsung could still change some of the features before the Galaxy S9 arrives sometime next February.
