The hopes that Samsung will release the Galaxy Tab 5 this year were slightly dampened by the rumors that an upgraded Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 has been spotted in a benchmark site. 

An updated version of the smaller-sized model of the Galaxy Tab 4 showed up in GFX Benchmarks. The upgraded tablet is powered by a more powerful 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and has a slightly bigger 1.5 GB RAM. Other features of the tablet are: 8-inch screen display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, Adreno 306 graphics chipset, 3-megapixel back camera and 1.2-megapixel front camera for video calls. The tablet goes with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system. 

Meanwhile, earlier rumors claimed that Samsung is working on the successors of the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note tablets. According to reports, the Galaxy Tab SM-T35x and the Galaxy Note SM-P35x will be 7-inch tablets, while the Galaxy Tab SM-T55x and the Galaxy Note SM-P55x will feature 10.1-inch displays. There is an immense possibility that the tablets will be powered by the entry level Snapdragon 410 SoC from Qualcomm with 64-bit architecture and the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Conversely, some reports say that the the Galaxy Tab 5 7.0 will feature a 7-inch screen display, quad-core "Spreadtrum SC8830" processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and will cost around $100, which is pretty cheap for a tablet. The one with a 10.1-inch screen display will cost $350. 

Reports added that the new variants of Samsung Galaxy Tab 5 as well as new tablets in the Note and Note Pro lines might be unveiled later this year or in second or third quarter of 2015. However, Samsung has not confirmed nor denied whether it is already working on (or has plans on making) new-generation tablets.
