Samsung Galaxy Tab 5 specs, release date: 10-inch tablet to launch in late spring or early summer?

Samsung is not only prepping up a new line of smartphones, new rumors point that the company is also working on a 10-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 5 as a follow up to the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. The tablet is said to be relatively cheap for its size. 

The tablet has been rumored to arrive in late spring or early summer next year. According to a report from The Netherlands, Samsung sent the prototype of the Galaxy Tab 5 alongside a smaller 7-inch Galaxy Tab 5 to India for testing. The bigger tablet will reportedly be priced at $350, while its 7-inch counterpart will cost $100. The tablet, said to have a model number SM-T555, has a 10.1-inch screen display, Snapdragon 410 SoC with 64-bit architecture, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. Meanwhile, the smaller tablet has a quad core 1.2 GHz Spreadtrum SC8830, 1 GB RAM, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS. 

It is still unknown whether the two slates will be released only in some regions, but with theirr affordable price tag, the devices will undoubtedly be popular in emerging markets. 

Meanwhile, there is also a rumor that Samsung is working on the successor of its 12.2-inch Samsung Galaxy Note Pro. The current 2014 model was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show early this year, which has led to speculations that a new model is coming in the annual tech trade show next month. 

The current model boasts a large12.2-inch Super Clear LCD display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. The tablet is powered by an octa-core 1.9 GHz Exynos 5 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM. The other features of the Samsung tablet include an 8-megapixel camera, 9500 mAh battery, and 32 GB and 64 GB with microSD slot of up to 64 GB. 

It has been a while since the South Korea-based tech company released a tablet, and it may be time for an update. However, it has announced nothing concrete yet. Thus, consumers will have to wait and see.
