After its launch in European and Pacific regions last year, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is set to take over the United States as the rugged tablet is now available in the country. While the device is nothing like the high-end Galaxy Tab S3, the users will not have to worry about carrying the Galaxy Tab Active 2 to their workplace as it is designed to withstand severe impacts.

The first Galaxy Tab Active device was launched back in 2014, and the latest hardware update makes the tablet even more durable and more competent when it comes to professional work. Of course, the design of the Galaxy Tab Active 2 lives up to its rugged, commercial appeal. For one, the tablet's S Pen is made more sturdy and rugged in appearance. The Tab Active 2 also received an IP68 dust and water resistance certification, so the users can be more confident that the device will survive even after being exposed to moisture and powdered debris in a construction site.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is also the perfect on-the-go device, as the tablet has a replaceable battery. Most importantly, the device has a MIL-STD-810 certification, meaning that the Tab Active 2 can withstand excessive pressure, temperature, and vibrations in the workplace. The tablet will remain functioning and intact even after being dropped a number of times. The Tab Active 2's screen panel is also designed to detect the user's hand gestures while wearing gloves.

Outdoor workers are less likely to choose a delicate device like an iPad or the Galaxy Tab S3 as they are also concerned about the tech's durability. Those in the construction business, for example, will need a reliable partner device to do computational work for them, but it also has to be rugged enough to survive a whole day of use.

Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 include an 8-inch 1,200x800 TFT display, 5-megapixel front camera, 8-megapixel rear shooter, 4,450mAh battery cell, an Exynos 7870 octa-core chipset, plus 3GB of RAM. The tablet is tipped to run the Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box. The Tab Active 2 price starts at $420 for the Wi-Fi only variant.
