Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 release date might coincide with Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro launch

The rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro and its release schedule could affect the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. As previously reported here on Christian Today, there are rumors that the two devices might be unveiled simultaneously. However, more conflicting speculations say that the Tab S2 might be launched as early as July or be delayed to October of this year.

According to a report from Master Herald, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 might be released this July in order to get a head start from the competition. If it is launched this month, then it will have a few months ahead of the iPad Air 3 and the iPad mini 4, both of which are expected to be unveiled in October and see a wide release by early November.

However, there is still the possibility that Samsung will play their cards differently and will launch the device in October. This might coincide with the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro and it would put the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 in direct competition with the aforementioned Apple products.

There is more to it than just competitive advantages, however. According to VineReport, Samsung might also be trying to put space between the release of their products. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A and Tab E are going to be released soon in India and Taiwan so releasing the Tab S2 so soon might dilute the market.

The report also cites that like Apple, Samsung may be looking to take advantage of the October and November holidays which make product releases more lucrative for consumers. Not only will they be able to take advantage of Halloween sales but also of the much-anticipated Black Friday sales in November.

As it stands, the Tab S2 is rumored to come in two variants: an 8.0-inch version and a 9.7-inch version. Both will sport Super AMOLED displays, run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and utilize a 1.9 GHz Exynos 5433 processor. The device will feature LTE connectivity, 3 GB RAM and an 8 MP rear camera. Screen resolution is rumored to be at 2048 x 1536 pixels.
