Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 vs. iPad Air 2 specs review: Which has best features?

Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S2 was launched in July and will soon arrive in retail stores this month.

Last year, the Galaxy Tab S was made a rival to Apple's iPad, but the former didn't bear any resemblance to the iconic gadget.

It might just change because according to Gizmag, the new Tab S2 almost looks identical to iPad Air 2, to the point that it can be mistaken for Apple's tablet.

Before making a purchase, it's good to know what each of the devices have to offer that make them superior to the other. Will Samsung's upcoming device win and will it be worth buying?

One of the most striking features of the Tab S2 is its incredibly thin design. The device measures only 5.6mm, that's equivalent to 0.22-inch thick. That means it is eight percent way thinner than the already thin iPad Air 2.

The weight is also an aspect that the Galaxy Tab S2 seems to have improved on. If iPad Air 2 was already extremely lightweight, the Tab S2 is reportedly 12 percent lighter.

Both gadgets have ultrasharp displays, according to a Neurogadget comparison. Both also feature a 2048x1536p resolution and 264 ppi. What makes them different is that Samsung boasts of a Super AMOLED technology, as compared to iPad Air 2 that has IPS.

For the battery, Samsung has 5,870 mAh, while its counterpart has 7,340 mAh. It's too early to make a conclusion for Tab S2's battery life, but what's clear is that Tab S2 has a smaller battery compared to iPad Air 2.

For selfie and photography lovers, both devices have 8-megapixel rear camera. Samsung has 2.1 megapixels for its front camera, while Apple has 1.2 megapixels.

It still remains unknown if both devices use the same sensors, but reports stated that Tab S2 carry the same resolutions as Galaxy Tab S.

The Tab S2 will come in two models, with both having a 32GB storage capacity, which is twice that of iPad Air's storage capacity.

Several new improved features of the Tab S2 makes it a good competitor for iPad Air 2, but still it can be considered as a mere copycat of the design.

Then again, it all boils down to the price. iPad Air 2 sells for $500, while Samsung has not revealed Tab S2's price yet.

When it hits the retail stores anytime this month, then people would know, which one's worth buying.
