Samsung has been aggressively trying to find ways to roll out the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its long line of handsets but unfortunately, some tablets may not be as fortunate.

The latest news these days seem to be centered on Android phones getting either an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop bump or Android 6.0 Marshmallow push, but there are some who may not be fortunate to get either, which will most likely be the older models.

And although it doesn't count as a mobile phone, the Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4 has been confirmed as one of the devices that will not be getting any Android bump at all.

This was revealed by Samsung UK when a Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4 tablet owner inquired about the possibility of seeing an Android bump for the said tablet via GSM Arena.

With the device apparently not supported by Android Lollipop, it seems that people who have this device will have to make do with the Android KitKat 4.4.

There are, of course, alternatives like perhaps custom ROMS which some techies could come up with. However, such would need some advanced knowledge before applying, together with risks that may involve possible bricking.

So for the ones who may eventually follow this route, do practice the golden rule before doing a device operating system upgrade. This is with reference, of course, to making sure that device back-up has been done properly before proceeding, as well as knowing the consequences in case something goes haywire.

Looking at it from another angle, the non-availability of an Android bump could cover only the folks over in the United Kingdom. There could be some chance, no matter how slim, that Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4 users in other regions will get an Android update, although the probability that there is one actually in the works and set to be rolled out is low.
