It has been reported that Samsung is planning to launch its first ever foldable handset soon. The said hardware, dubbed as the Galaxy X, is tipped to sport a flexible OLED display that can be divided into dual screen panels. However, the latest rumors now suggest that the Samsung Galaxy X will not only have two OLED displays, but three.

The latest scoop regarding the Samsung Galaxy X came from the South Korean online publication The Bell, who now claims that the foldable device will sport three OLED panels. The leaks show that two main LED panels measure 3.5 inches each, and when combined, the result would be a massive 7-inch display. This portion alone is already equivalent to the size of the current iPad Mini model, according to Mashable.

The latest Samsung Galaxy X report also reveals the third OLED panel's function, which only exists when the handset is used in "phone mode." When the Galaxy X is in "tablet mode," the third display will be placed at the back of the device, while the other two panels are displayed on the front.

Per Forbes, a Samsung executive teased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last February that the South Korean tech giant is still determined to launch its first foldable Galaxy X handset in the future. If the gagdet will not be released this year, it is likely that the Galaxy X will arrive sometime in 2019.

At this point, today's top tech manufacturers are on a race to develop a truly flexible smartphone that does not show an visible seamline when unfolded. Samsung's top rival, Apple, is also rumored to unveil its own foldable device based on leaked patent filings.

After the leaked three-panel design of the Samsung Galaxy X has surfaced, a concept render of the handset provided by AndroidLEO was created, giving the public a more solid visualization of the sophisticated triple display setup. The concept image shows a massive 6.4-inch Ultra HD Super AMOLED display with almost non-existent bezels. Aside from the phone and tablet mode, the Galaxy X is suggested to have a special laptop mode as well, wherein all the three OLED panels are in use.
