Samsung Gear Fit 2 is highly anticipated to arrive next month, according to industry sources. It is said that the upcoming smartband will be equipped with more health related functions than its predecessor.

The upcoming Gear Fit 2 will be focusing more on one's well-being, thus, it said to be equipped with more sensors related to fitness monitoring. It is mentioned that the upcoming fitness product will now be furnished with its own GPS sensor to allow its users to better track daily activities or outdoor whereabouts. This is in addition to the heart beat sensor and pedometer that the earlier product already contains, according to Pulse News of South Korea.

Additionally, it will now come with a bio-processor, the first of its kind. The Gear Fit 2 will now be able to measure heart rate, heart rhythm, body fat, skeletal muscle mass and skin temperature. It will also be capable of measuring Galvanic Skin Response (GSR), which can be obtained from sweat produced by the body. GSR is change in the electrical properties of the skin.

The report also mentioned that the man behind the Gear Fit 2 is Rhee In-jong , the company's senior vice president. He is also in charge of Samsung's software business, which includes Samsung Pay.

Android Authority reported that the bio processor was announced by the South Korean tech giant last December and will be included in the products that will come out by mid-2016. The rumored release of Gear Fit 2 perfectly matches the timeline set by the company.

The bio processor developed by Samsung is 80 percent smaller and 50 percent more power efficient than similar products available in the market. An Electrocardiogram (ECG) function may also be included on the soon-to-be-announced fitness band.

The first Samsung Gear Fit was released back in 2014 and is currently priced around US$140. No price information is available for the Gear Fit 2.
