Samsung has recently announced that its Notebook 9 laptop model will get a major refresh this 2018. The South Korean tech giant will unveil at least four new devices, including three premium Notebook 9 laptops and a special Notebook 9 Pen. It is expected that the new Notebook lineup will take on the premium features of Apple's MacBook and Microsoft's Surface laptops.

As reported by BGR, Samsung revealed that the Notebook 9 lineup will have a major revamp in 2018, and one of the three laptop models will get its own Notebook 9 Pen, which works in a similar way as the built-in S Pen stylus for the Galaxy handsets. This feature challenges the dedicated stylus pen for the new Microsoft Surface laptop, although the Notebook 9 2018's S Pen stuns by operating without a battery.

At first glance, the 2018 Samsung Notebook 9 lineup appears to be similar to the previous versions. This should be expected, as the South Korean tech giant might be preserving the Notebook 9's signature design. However, the similarity in design is all that is present in next year's laptops, as the new Notebook 9 models will boast additional features and top-end hardware specs.

The upcoming Samsung Notebook 9 laptops will sport the usual 2-in1 hybrid setup, allowing the users to flip them into a tablet or a laptop. In addition, the 2018 models boast high-power chipset and larger memory. For one, the 13-inch Notebook 9 2018 model has the 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, accompanied by 16 gigabytes (GB) of random access memory (RAM) and up to 512 GB of internal storage, giving the 2017 MacBook a serious competition. In spite of the jam-packed specs, the laptop only weighs 2.2 lbs since it is made of the light material known as "Metal 12," an alloy made of magnesium and aluminum.

Furthermore, the 13.3-inch and 15-inch Samsung Notebook 9 2018 models have up to 1 terabyte (TB) of storage. Only the 15-inch laptop has its dedicated discrete graphics and USB Thunderbolt support, while all models have fingerprint readers and support for Windows Hello feature. As for the Notebook 9 S Pen, the device has the IR and facial scanning technology.

The 2018 Samsung Notebook 9 laptops will be unveiled at the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2018 on January 9th at Las Vegas.
