In terms of news about Samsung, the recently-launched Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are hogging the spotlight right now. However, in the side lines, Samsung fans who are also waiting for the much-needed update to their devices may soon receive good news, too.  

According to Samsung observer Sam Mobile, an insider source says that the company is now working on an Android 5.1 update for Samsung devices, starting with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. In addition, the 5.1 Lollipop update will also be extended to the Galaxy Grand Prime. 

If this is indeed the case, then this is good news for Samsung fans, since their devices could get the needed fix and improvements brought on by the newest Lollipop update. The 5.1 version of Android brings an improved Quick Settings menu for easier control of frequently-accessed tabs such as the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection tabs. Aside from that, the new OS also addresses stability and performance improvements for device protection, dual SIM compatibility, smarter Wi-Fi, and improved priority modes. 

The update seems not only related to a 5.1 upgrade, as there are also reports that older Samsung models, such as the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Mega 2, devices which still enjoy a huge following, will be updated to Android 5.0. 

In other Lollipop news, it seems that Google inadvertently leaked a 5.1.1 development. When Google released the 5.0 update, the company also put up an audio latency webpage to check the improvements for the OS. When observers checked the site recently, they saw two new builds, LMY47S and LMY47W for the Nexus 9 and first-gen Nexus 7, pointing to a new OS update for the two devices. Google has not provided any official details about the leak, but the build would be a welcome addition for Android fans, especially for Nexus 9 users who are still waiting for a 5.1 Lollipop update.
