Clearly, Samsung was hard at work and it stunned everybody with the introduction of not just one but two revolutionary handsets at the IFA just recently. The South Korean company has been trying its hands on making breakthroughs and shockers in the smartphone industry and it seems that it is finally pleased with the dawn of the Galaxy Note Edge and its larger-than-life exterior. Together with the Galaxy Note 4, Samsung may at last be abandoning its sales bedlam for good.

These new phones are no more than surefire knockouts. With their uniqueness in build and style, the task of choosing between them is easier said than done. Luckily, here is a specs showdown users can scan before placing orders and writing shopping lists.

The most conspicuous difference between the two is their outer shells. Samsung sure has taken colossal steps in building its devices. It's not the wishful eradication of faux leather or metal but rather, it is the first ever crafting of a sci-fi-quality handset that is sure to leave everyone in wonder. Galaxy Note 4's faux leather and metal chassis will be overlooked when put side by side with Note Edge and its ultramodern screen that extends to its right wall.

Regarding the dimensions, the noteworthy aspect is that the Note Edge is only a tad thinner with an 8.3-mm thick body compared to Note 4's 8.5 mm. The screen size is not very far-flung as well. The Note 4 has a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display rendering a 2560 x 1440 screen resolution and a 515 ppi pixel density. The Note Edge comes with a 5.6-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display generating 2560 × 1440 screen resolution. Its futuristic display that slopes to the right spawns additional 160 horizontal pixels. In turn, it has a 524 pixel density that gives off sharper and crisp details than its kin.

The Note 4 and the Note Edge both house a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. After testing the two, Phone Arena has provided performance benchmarks that favored Note Edge. Both handsets even pack the same RAM — 3 GB.

Imaging capabilities seem untouched. The rear shooters are at 16 megapixels and the front cameras are at 3.7 megapixels. Both allow the Selfie Mode and the Wide Selfie mode for users to capture better-looking photos and views. Both phones also have fingerprint sensors, heart rate sensors and accelerometers handy.

After a battery test conducted by Phone Arena, the Note 4 snagged the win. The Note Edge died after 7 hours and 8 minutes of usage. The Note 4 provides more than an hour longer of usage time as it got drained after 8 hours and 43 minutes. Thankfully, both these devices have fast charging technology active. Users can express charge their Note Edge or Note 4 for a whole hour to fully restore its battery life.

The Note Edge offers 32 and 64 GB models in Black and White. The Note 4 only offers a 32 GB version but has various color variants like Frosted White, Charcoal Black, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink.
