Samsung is planning to unveil their newest curved monitor at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this 2018. The new monitor called CJ791 boasts to be the first monitor in existence to support Intelt's Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.

Thunderbolt 3 is relatively new technology, but is gaining a foothold in mainstream tech. It is believed that this next move for Samsung will further push Thunderbolt 3 to prominence.

The Thunderbolt 3 not only supports USB-C connections, but can also provide the connected laptop with 85 watts of charging power. The connection can also process 40 Gigabits of data per second, which is four times faster than current universal serial bus (USB) transfer rates.

The Thunderbolt 3 connection is almost universal, as well. Samsung promises that the CJ971 can connect "across a full ecosystem of docks, displays and peripheral devices including Macs, USB type-C laptops, and other desktop accessories like storage drives or external graphics cards."

As for the display size, the CJ971 measures 34 inches diagonally. Te upcoming curved monitor is in 21:9 aspect ratio, with a maximum optimal resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels. Its ultra-wide resolution promises to deliver pictures and images with more than 2.5 times the pixel density of current high-definition (HD) standards.

The CJ971 is also good for gaming with its 4 millisecond (ms) response time. This means that there will be very little screen tearing when playing games. The very short response time also means smooth transitions in between frames— something that is crucial when playing games of skill like first-person shooters or multiplayer online battle arena (MOBAs) like DOTA2 or League of Legends.

There is also the convenience that comes with Thunderbolt 3 connections, as this connection method apparently uses very little wiring. This results in a tidy working environment.

The Samsung CJ971 will be unveiled at the CES 2018, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
