Samsung Z1 2016 leak: New iteration of Tizen-based handset spotted on Zauba

It looks like Samsung is in no way done with its Tizen-powered products just yet. Word on the street is that the South Korea-based tech firm is now working on the successor of the Samsung Z1.

The original Samsung Z1 is rumored to get a successor.Samsung

Currently dubbed the Samsung Z1 2016, the rumored new iteration of the Tizen-based smartphone is expected to come in an AMOLED display, the same as that of the Samsung Z3. In addition, it will reportedly come with the model number SM-Z150.

Interestingly, a Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-Z510 (notice the digits 5 and 1 interchanged) recently popped up in the India-based import-export website Zauba.

It is believed that fans will come to know this device as the Samsung Z5, which could very well be the successor of the Z3.This means that Samsung could be refreshing the Tizen-based smartphone family this year.

Samsung released the Samsung Z1 in January last year. By October, Samsung Z3 hit the markets. Samsung has been particularly silent about its Tizen-powered handsets since, and this is the first time the Samsung Z1 2016 became a subject of a rumor.

The original Samsung Z1 was a midranger with a decent set of specs. It had a 4-inch display with 480 x 800 screen resolution and 233ppi pixel density. It packed RAM that's 200MB shy from 1GB and a dual-core Spreadtrum processor.

The device offered 4GB of storage space, which is thankfully expandable with a microSD card. It also offered a 3.15MP shooter on the back but only a VGA camera on the front. The Samsung Z1's energy came from its 1500mAh battery.

The Samsung Z1 2016's appearance in Zauba suggests that it is now being tested in India. That being said, it looks like it won't be long before it officially sees the light of day.
