Rumors about the development of another Tizen-powered smartphone from Samsung have been going around online.

The South Korean mobile and consumer products manufacturer is reportedly developing the next-generation of its first Tizen-operated device called the Samsung Z1, released early this year.

Although the product has been performing dismally in the Indian and Bangladesh markets since it was released, Samsung is still planning on creating more mobile device products using the company-manufactured operating system. To date, the Samsung Z1 was able to sell at least 100,000 units in India and an additional 20,000 units in Bangladesh.

Samsung co-developed the Tizen operating system with the members of the Technical Steering Group using the Linux API. The consumer and electronics company is planning to use this operating system to run some of their product lines, including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and other smart home appliances.

At the moment, the Samsung Z1 comes with a 4-inch display with Spreadtrum SC7727S chipset and dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 processor. It also has 512 MB of RAM and has an internal storage capacity of 4 GB. However, the memory can be expanded up to 64 GB using the allotted microSD slot.

If rumors are true, then the alleged Samsung Z2 could come with an upgraded version of the specs that are featured in the first Tizen-running smartphone from the company. Samsung is allegedly banking on the early interest of the market in the Tizen-operated mobile device, which is probably why they are planning to release the successor of the Samsung Z1 in the near future.

Other products equipped with the Tizen operating system include Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch product line like the Samsung Gear 2, the Samsung Gear 2 Neo, and the Samsung Gear S. Samsung's high-end camera called the Samsung NX1 is also equipped with the company's own operating system.

There is no word yet about the official release date of the alleged Samsung Z2 smartphone product at the moment.
