After a tough defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans, the San Antonio Spurs bounced back last Saturday, defeating another Western Conference powerhouse in the Memphis Grizzlies, 92–82.

The Spurs were soaring and were riding a six-game winning streak before losing to the struggling Pelicans.

But San Antonio is back on the winning column as the big three of point guard Tony Parker, guard Manu Ginobili, and veteran big man Tim Duncan was in full effect against Memphis, and got help from 2014 Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard led the scoring with 19 points, also having seven rebounds, three assists, and one block.

Parker followed with 18 points, one rebound, three assists, one steal, and one block, while Ginobili contributed 15 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal off the bench.

Duncan, who for the first time in his career was unable to grab a rebound in their loss to New Orleans, had a double-double 10 points and 10 rebounds, with four assists, four steals, and two blocks.

The Spurs' biggest offseason addition, All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, was unable to play against the Grizzlies because of an ankle sprain.

In a report by the Associated Press, Ginobili acknowledged that it was not that great of a victory as they committed errors but he said they are building and are aiming to be better.

The win handed the Spurs a 10–3 record for the second spot in the Western Conference standings, just behind the Golden State Warriors who tied the best start in the National Basketball Association (NBA) at 15–0.

San Antonio will continue the home stand when they take on the Phoenix Suns today, Monday, and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies went down to the seventh spot in the West following the loss with a 7–7 record.

The Grizzlies will try to bounce back when they next play this Tuesday against the Mavs.
