San Antonio Spurs trade rumors 2016: Matt Bonner exiting the team as Rudy Gay enters the scene?

Matt Bonner recognizes the possibility that he may no longer be with the San Antonio Spurs next season. This is what he expressed during his interview with Concord News Radio.

"Currently they haven't signed me," the forward said. "Unless something changes going into the season, I'm probably not going to be with the Spurs," he went on to say.

It looks like Bonner has not heard from Spurs on whether or not they will re-sign him so now, the 36-year-oldmight be looking for a new home for a first time in a decade.

According to News 4 San Antonio, the Spurs are focused on bringing in younger players to the fold, rebuilding the club following the retirement of star player Tm Duncan.

The vision of the management for San Antonio might not include Bonner still in the lineup. At the moment, it is unknown where Bonner will end up as the waiting game for him to be re-signed continues.

Meanwhile, San Antonio Spurs trade rumors continue to associate the team with Rudy Gay who is expected to walk out of the Sacramento Kings any day now.

According to reports, Gay has already been required by the Spurs and that they are waiting for the right moment to make the big announcement.

Gay has expressed his frustration towards the Kings and has implied that he will not reunite with the team this season. Talents like Gay can easily attract takers and San Antonio may have won that deal.

However, Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders said that the talented small forward's willingness is just one thing. The process that comes with actually acquiring him is another.

"The problem with trading Gay, who is owed $13.333 million this season, is that the Kings would have to take back some level of salary in the deal and find a team open to taking on Gay in what could be a one-year rental," Kyler wrote.

"There is a sense among league insiders that the Kings are not looking for a ton in return for Gay, so that may make finding a deal a little easier even with all the issues surrounding a deal," he went on to say.

However, according to Yibada, Gay moving to San Antonio does not make sense as LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard already handle the role he is expected to take on the team.

The site also believes that Spurs have no one to trade with Danny Green, Patty Mills or even Jonathan Simmons already too well-versed with Coach Greg Popovich's system to be walking out.
