The San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills will face off on Sunday in a big game for Week 6 in the NFL. The 49ers' season is on the brink after just 5 weeks of the regular season. So far they have only been able to register the solitary win, and enter Week 6 on 1-4.

Last time out they suffered a home 33-21 loss to the Arizona Cardinals after the 49ers defense went missing for much of the second half. San Francisco came in at half time with the game finely poised at 7-7, but they allowed the Cardinals to pile on 26 points in the second and their offense had no chance.

If they are to stand any chance against the Bills then the 49ers must tighten things up in defense and ensure they don't allow the Buffalo offense to dictate the pace of the game.

The Bills will be a big challenge and they have had a reasonable opening five weeks, coming into Week 6 on 3-2. That means their season could go in either direction from here, and if they can gain another win today to move to 4-2 they will be looking like serious contenders for a postseason spot.

Earlier this week, Week 6 got started with a big game between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football.

The Broncos came into the game as heavy favorites, with most expecting them to bounce back from their first defeat of the season a week before. However, it became apparent that Denver's first loss was not simply a minor blip, and they now appear to be heading into a slump in form as they were defeated 21-13 by the Chargers.

San Diego were in charge throughout, and heading into the final quarter, the Chargers were 19-3 ahead. The Broncos finally showed some life in offense in the fourth quarter, but 10 points was nowhere near enough to get them back into the game.

That result dropped the Broncos back to 4-2, and simultaneously lifted the Chargers up to 2-4 and gives them a tiny glimmer of hope that this season still holds something for them.

The victory will be sweet relief for San Diego fans, who have witnessed their team constantly choke to give away fourth quarter leads again and again this season to drop to 1-4.

Although there were signs of what had gone on in previous games here, the result was never seriously in doubt. Chargers' fans will still have been holding their breath though when the Broncos shortened the lead to 8 points with 32 seconds left, but a last gasp drive from the Broncos ended with a failed Hail Mary and finally the San Diego faithful were able to breathe again.

The Broncos now have time to rest with an extra long week before returning in Week 7 on Monday Night Football to face the Houston Texans. Meanwhile, the Chargers won't play again until two Sundays from now when they will take on the Atlanta Falcons.
