A Western Conference clash will take place Saturday when the San Jose Earthquakes try to enter the top six in the conference hosting Seattle Sounders FC at the Avaya Stadium.

San Jose saw a four-match winning streak get snapped last Saturday when the club was handed a 2-1 loss by the Philadelphia Union.

Before the loss, the Quakes have defeated the Colorado Rapids (1–0), Sporting Kansas City (5–0), D.C. United (2–0), and even defending Major League Soccer (MLS) champions the LA Galaxy (1–0).

The Quakes are currently sitting on the seventh spot in the West with 38 points (11–11–5), three points shy of the final playoff spot held by the Portland Timbers who have 41 points tied with the Sounders and Kansas City.

A win for San Jose means there will be four clubs tied at 41 points in the Western Conference; a loss will keep them steady on the standings.

Meanwhile, the Sounders are looking to break the triple tie they are in with Sporting and Portland, although they are on top of those clubs at the fourth place in the West.

A win for the Rave Green will be huge as the club will then tie FC Dallas with 44 points for the third spot in the West.

The Sounders are currently on a two-match winning streak defeating the Timbers and Toronto FC both at 2–1 in their previous league matches.

In Seattle's most recent win against Toronto, the club's leading scorer this season forward Obafemi Martins and midfielder Clint Dempsey netted the goals to seal the match in their favor.

Saturday's match will be the third meeting between Rave Green and the Quakes this season with the first two being held at CenturyLink Field last March and June.

In those two matches, San Jose finished on top winning the first match 3–2 and the second 2–0.

The match between the San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10:30 p.m. EST. To watch via live stream, click here.
