Scandal Season 6 spoilers: Mellie aware of Rowan's retribution to Olivia?
Rowan Pope (Joe Morton), father of Olivia (Kerry Washington), may have hinted a dark plan coming ahead against his daughter after smirking during "Scandal's" last episode. According to ParentHerald, Rowan must be planning on a retribution regarding the matter. Olivia's relief maybe short lived after saving her lover (Scott Foley) from her father.
Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young),ex wife of President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwn), may have known Rowan's hidden plans but was too close to presidency and was more focused in winning. In an interview by Variety with Scott Foley, who plays Jake Ballard, he said, "Mellie knows Rowan as the devil, but on the other hand, she has made a deal with the devil in the past. I would wager that being so close [to being President], she'd be able to make peace with it in her mind that if she could just get the office, then she'd have the power and it wouldn't matter how she got there. But as we all know, any dance you do with Papa Pope is rather deathly."
Season 6 will reveal the would- be incoming president between Mellie and Frankie Vargas (Ricardo Chavira). This will result to Fitzgerald Grant's (Tony Goldwyn) relieving his position.
Shonda Rhimes, creator of Scandal, revealed a snippet to The Hollywood Reporter on what would become of Tony Goldwyn's character Fitz. "I can't tell you any of that — but there is a plan. Tony is not going anywhere; where would he go?! He'll be much happier as the post-president than as the president." she said.
Rhimes decided to have a lighter tone for the next installment. In an interview of ET with her, she said that the series are heading to a more optimistic path. "I don't know if you all will notice this — because Olivia beats people to death with chairs and stuff — but I feel like I can see it. There's an optimism that exists in the work now," Rhimes said. She also related the similarity of Scandal's transition of turbulent seasons to a calmer one with Grey's Anatomy. "On Grey's, there's definitely a sense of optimism. And on Scandal, we're heading some place that's optimistic."
"Scandal" season 6 will premiere in the midseason of 2017. Its timeslot every Thursday at 9pm will be occupied by "Notorious", ABC's newest American TV series.
