"Scandal" is on a brief hiatus following its shocking midseason finale which saw Olivia (Kerry Washington) leaving Fitz (Tony Goldwyn). While Olitz (Olivia and Fitz) fans were saddened by this development, loyal viewers who wanted Liv to be with Jake (Scott Foley) rejoiced because it was speculated that the two will finally be together.

The love triangle between Fitz, Liv and Jake has been one of the series' biggest storylines since Foley was promoted to series regular in season 3. At the end of season 3, Liv and Jake traveled to a remote island where they stayed for 4 months. But eventually, the Washington D.C. fixer decided that she wanted to be with President Fitz instead of Jake.

Speaking with TVLine, Foley shared his thoughts about the midseason finale and whether Jake will be with Olivia again.

The actor said that with Jake having a wife earlier on in the season, it gave his character "a place to go and a reason to search for Rowan again." Rowan was the one who killed Jake's wife, Elise. But now that Elise is gone, does this mean that there's a future for Liv and Jake?

The actor told the website that he thinks Jake is "done" with Olivia for now.

"I think because two episodes ago, where Jake found out that Olivia was the one who let Rowan out [of prison]…he had been very patient," Foley explained, adding that while Jake told Liv that she chose Fitz because she loves him, Liv didn't deny this or say that she's choosing Jake.

"Once he found out that she let Rowan out and Rowan then killed his wife, I think he was done," said the actor.

The "Felicity" alum said that there were a lot of tweets and social media questions after the midseason finale aired and fans asked whether Jake and Liv will get back together.

"Scandal" returns Feb. 11 on ABC.
