Thursday is here, which means that the premiere episode of "Scandal" season 5 is right around the corner. 

In the finale episode of season 4, Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) kicked out his wife Mellie (Bellamy Young) from the White House, while Jake (Scott Foley) finally accepted the fact that Olivia (Kerry Washington) could not let go of her feelings for Fitz. The episode ended with Fitz and Olivia kissing in the White House balcony. 

Based on the promo trailer for the upcoming fifth season of "Scandal," the U.S. President and his former crisis manager rekindle their romance after their numerous attempts to stay away from each other.

But not everyone will be happy when the series returns wiith the episode titled "Heavy is the Head." Because of their past alliance with Olivia's father Rowan (Joe Morton), Mellie, the President's chief of staff Cyrus (Jeff Perry), and Olivia's treacherous tech expert Huck (Guillermo Diaz) are expected to face the consequences in "Scandal" season 5. 

In a report posted on TVLine, Young shared that the cast of the show were often surprised at the developments in the series. Her once-powerful character, the First Lady of the United States, has been demoted after Fitz found out that she was Rowan's source for the leaked information about the jurors in the B613 case, which eventually led to their deaths. This enraged the President. In the trailer for the upcoming season, Fitz tells Mellie that he is filing for divorce. 

The official synopsis for the premiere episode of "Scandal" season 5 reads: 

Olivia and Fitz are back together again and enjoying every scandalous moment together while Cyrus, Mellie and Huck are all still dealing with the aftermath of helping Command. Meanwhile, when a visit from the Queen of Caldonia and her family turns into a tragedy, Olivia is hired to make sure the Royal family's private life stays private."
