The midseason finale of "Scandal" season 4 couldn't have closed better. The lead star, Olivia Pope, was abducted and no one has a clue where she is or where to start looking. When the show returns next week, it will all be about rescuing Olivia. 

The season 4B premiere episode is titled "Run" and the official synopsis goes: 

"The winter premiere picks up right where the finale left off, this time from Olivia's point of view. Exactly what happened when Jake went to the bedroom? Who took Olivia and where did she go? The fight of Olivia's life will begin." 

Olivia's survival isn't much of a concern here. After all, she is the star of the show and she cannot die. However, what is interesting to see are the events that will unfold behind her rescue. Will she be able to escape? How will the abductor be revealed? How will she be rescued? 

In addition, CarterMatt reports that "Run" is a special episode because show creator Shonda Rhimes wrote it. If she gives time to write an episode, it most definitely means that it is a must-watch. 

Moving on, the following episode will still be about rescuing Olivia. Episode 11 is titled "Where's the Black Lady?" The synopsis for the episode is short. It reads:

"With Olivia still missing, the team comes together to do whatever it takes to find her and get her home safely." 

Seeing the synopsis, immediately, this could mean that there will be a conflict between Fitz and Jake about the rescue mission. These two men have strong opinions and, needless to say, strong feelings for Olivia and they will be fighting for control over the situation. 

Fans have yet to see who will come out on top. But the bottom line is, in one way or another, Fitz and Jake will have to work together in order to see the love of their life come out alive in this ordeal. 

"Scandal" returns with "Run" on Jan. 29 and "Where's the Black Lady?" on Feb. 5.
