Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) made a big mistake, and she knows that she has to do everything that she can to stop if from getting worse in the next episode of "Scandal" season 5.

Viewers were shocked when they saw Olivia snap out of her composure with former vice president Andrew Nichols (Jon Tenney), who is the person behind her kidnapping back in season 4.

Olivia lost it when the former vice president went on a very hurtful tirade against her and President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and refused to stop his scheming in order to get back into power. This reminded her of her time in captivity, and prompted her to hit Andrew repeatedly with a chair until he succumbed to death.

In the next episode, titled "Till Death Do Us Part," Olivia will deal with the aftermath of her actions while trying to stop her father Rowan (Joe Morton) and former lover Jake (Scott Foley) from pushing through with their new plan.

The synopsis for the episode reads: "As Olivia deals with the aftermath of what she's done, she finally finds out what exactly Jake and Rowan are plotting. But with their plans already in motion, Olivia is forced to make a gut-wrenching attempt to try and stop it. Meanwhile, in flashbacks, we learn more about Jake's past and how he first got involved with B6-13."

The episode airs after the series' brief hiatus, on April 21, on ABC.

Meanwhile, series creator Shonda Rhimes confirmed in an interview with Adweek that "Scandal" will have to end after season 6.

"Scandal is a limited story," Rhimes explained, saying that it is not like her other series, "Grey's Anatomy," that can go on for more years. "I am not watching [Washington's character] Olivia Pope grow up. I am watching a specific moment in time, and I feel like in order to tell the story correctly, you have to end it."

However, Rhimes is still keeping her plans on how she wants to end the series under wraps.
