"Scandal" season 5 is only going to be more gracious in terms of storyline for actor Scott Foley's character. During an interview with TV Line, the star assured fans of Jake Ballard can expect more action and drama coming Jake Ballard's way.

"I've learned to always have faith, I know you hear this from all the people in Shondaland camp, but they do amazing things, man," Foley told the publication. In the previous seasons, Jake's bit has thoroughly been about his unreciprocated love for Olivia.

But this wasn't the case anymore in "Scandal" season 5 when his wife Elise came into the picture. The actor believes that Jake is genuinely moving on from Liv (he even gave her his blessing to choose the person that will make her truly happy even though it isn't him).

"It's my opinion that at the beginning of this season, the relationship obviously was Olivia and Fitz, and they were looking for something to do with Jake. And with B613 not being active, they gave him a wife," Foley explained.

Indeed, Mia Maestro's short stint as Jake's wife not only changes the dynamics of things despite the character already being a goner but it also utterly complicates his already complicated life come "Scandal" season 5.

With Elise at the receiving end of Rowan's usual killing splurge and the fact that Liv was the person that let the murderer out of prison, this rich storyline should keep Jake busy for the rest of the season.

As for the undying question of whether or not Jake and Olivia will get together in the future, this becomes more unlikely considering how angry Jake is about his wife's death somewhat being Liv's responsibility.

"Once he found out that she let Rowan out and Rowan then killed his wife, I think he was done," Foley explained.

"Scandal" season 5 returns on Feb. 11 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC with an episode titled "It's Hard Out Here for a General." Rumor has it she will find herself in a completely new relationship after everything that happened with Fitz.
