Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) is alive and set to cause trouble for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) when ABC series "Scandal" returns for its fifth season.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the former operative of the mysterious B-613 CIA subdivision will play an important role in the upcoming installment. This time, though, he may end up putting his lady love's life in danger, as executive producer Shonda Rhimes has hinted that Jake will "destroy everything." Many speculate that she meant he would turn his back on Liv now that she is with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn).

Last season finale, Jake told Liv she was free to be with the man she truly loved. Perhaps the former was still hoping that the lady would end up choosing him. It turned out she did not, as she immediately decided to go to the White House and reunite with the POTUS. Later on, Jake was thought to be killed after being stabbed multiple times. Is he now acting on revenge after the unfortunate things that happened to him?

Meanwhile, the new promo released by ABC shows steamy, hot, and naked scenes featuring Liv and Fitz. In the clip, the two can be seen toasting each other at a formal event, while Sally Langston (Kate Burton) can be heard asking the President what he is hiding. Is she pertaining to the affair with Liv or his impending divorce with Mellie (Bellamy Young)?

The International Business Times reports that Fitz is serving Mellie divorce papers. He apparently found out that she worked with Rowan (Joe Morton) to secure her seat in the Virginia Senate. He then kicked her out of the house, promising that she would never become president if he has any say on the matter.

"Scandal" season 5 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
