'Scandal' season 5B news: Scott Foley talks Olivia and Jake

ABC

The midseason finale of "Scandal" season 5 went out with President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Olivia (Kerry Washington) breaking up, officially ending Olivia's short stay in the White House. Fans have presumed that this means Olivia might be getting together with Jake (Scott Foley) but Foley disagrees, as per TVLine.

Back in the season 4 finale, Jake decided to let go of Olivia and allow her to be with the man she truly loved. However, as season 5 proved, being with Fitz was not going to be as happy as Olivia hoped for and a series of unfortunate events led her to flee the White House and Fitz altogether.

In the midst of her issues with Fitz, Olivia also orchestrated the release of her father, Rowan (Joe Morton), from prison. However, Rowan went on a violent spree and ended up killing Jake's wife Elise (Mia Maestro). The midseason finale ended with Jake killing Rowan and it is this event that could severe his relationship with Olivia for good.

"I think because two episodes ago, where Jake found out that Olivia was the one who let Rowan out of prison," Foley explained. "He had been very patient. But once he found out that she let Rowan out and Rowan then killed his wife, I think he was done."

Foley also says he is proud that his character stood up and called Olivia out on all the problems she had brought upon him instead of simply letting her be because of the way he felt about her. He also confirmed that for the time being there is no chance of Jake and Olivia getting together because of Jake's opinions on her.

He also confirmed that it would take a long time and effort from Olivia before the two would even be on better terms, let alone dating .

"Scandal" season 5B premieres on Feb. 11.
